Description

A delicious Crispy Chicken Caesar Sandwich featuring golden-fried chicken cutlets marinated in buttermilk and coated in a seasoned panko breadcrumb crust. Served on toasted brioche buns with fresh romaine lettuce, creamy Caesar dressing, and grated Parmesan cheese, this sandwich offers a perfect combination of textures and flavors for a satisfying main course.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Coating

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (halved horizontally to make 4 cutlets)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Sandwich Assembly

  • 4 brioche or sandwich buns
  • 1 cup romaine lettuce (shredded)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup Caesar dressing

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken cutlets in a shallow dish and cover with buttermilk. Refrigerate and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes to tenderize and add flavor.
  2. Prepare the Breading Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper, mixing them thoroughly to create an even coating blend.
  3. Coat the Chicken: Remove each chicken cutlet from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge the cutlet in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently so the coating adheres well to the chicken.
  4. Fry the Chicken: Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully fry each coated chicken cutlet for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until golden brown and the chicken is fully cooked through.
  5. Drain Excess Oil: Remove the fried chicken from the skillet and place on a paper towel–lined plate to drain any excess oil and keep the crust crispy.
  6. Toast the Buns: Optionally toast the brioche or sandwich buns lightly to add crispness and warmth.
  7. Assemble the Sandwiches: Layer shredded romaine lettuce on the bottom half of each bun, add a crispy chicken cutlet, drizzle with Caesar dressing, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Place the top bun half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, opt to bake or air fry the chicken instead of frying to reduce oil content.
  • Add crispy bacon or fresh tomato slices inside the sandwich for extra flavor and texture.
  • Using a homemade Caesar dressing enhances freshness and allows customization of flavors.
