Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 12 oz spaghetti
Beef and Sauce
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 ½ cups heavy cream
- 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
Garnish
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
- Brown the Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season with salt and black pepper. Once cooked, remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté the Garlic: In the same skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes if using. Stir continuously and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Make the Parmesan Sauce: Pour in the heavy cream, stirring well to combine. Let the mixture simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes. Gradually add the grated parmesan cheese, stirring constantly until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen it to desired consistency.
- Combine Everything: Return the browned ground beef to the skillet, stirring to coat in the creamy sauce. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet and toss everything together until the pasta is evenly coated and combined with the beef and sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the top and serve immediately. Offer extra parmesan cheese at the table for added flavor. Enjoy this comforting and delicious meal!
Notes
- For a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of cayenne pepper.
- If you prefer a lighter sauce, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream.
- Freshly grated parmesan cheese provides the best flavor and melts better than pre-grated varieties.
- Reserve some pasta water to adjust sauce consistency as it helps the sauce cling to the noodles.
- You can add sautéed mushrooms or spinach to add more veggies and depth to the dish.
