Description

These Seed Crackers are a crunchy, healthy snack made from a blend of nutrient-rich seeds and flavorful spices. Perfect for gluten-free diets or anyone seeking a satisfying low-carb alternative to traditional crackers. Baked to perfection, they offer a savory, aromatic bite that pairs wonderfully with dips, cheeses, or enjoyed on their own.

Ingredients

Scale

Seeds

  • 1 cup raw pumpkin seeds
  • ½ cup sesame seeds
  • ½ cup sunflower seeds
  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  • ¼ cup ground flax meal (ground flax seeds)

Spices and Others

  • 2 tablespoons psyllium husk powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 ½ cups warm water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C), and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, thoroughly combine the pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, ground flax meal, psyllium husk powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, dried rosemary, and black pepper.
  3. Add water and combine: Pour the warm water into the seed and spice mixture, stirring well until everything is evenly incorporated. Allow the mixture to rest for 20 minutes, giving the psyllium husk and flax meal time to absorb the liquid and create a binding gel.
  4. Spread the mixture: Evenly distribute the thick batter onto the prepared baking sheets, pressing it down to form a thin, uniform layer about ⅛ inch thick, roughly 10 by 13 inches in size.
  5. Bake and score: Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 75 minutes, rotating the pans halfway through baking for even cooking. For easier portioning, score the mixture with a knife or pizza cutter after 25 to 30 minutes, then continue baking until crisp.
  6. Cool and store: Once baked, remove the crackers from the oven and let them cool completely on the sheets. Break apart along scored lines or into desired cracker sizes. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding your favorite herbs like thyme or oregano.
  • Use warm water to activate the binding agents better.
  • Make sure the cracker layer is evenly thin to ensure even baking and crispiness.
  • Keep stored crackers in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
  • Gluten-free and vegetarian-friendly snack option.
